Consecrating the Buddha: On the Practice of Interring Objects in Buddhist Statues

Consecrating the Buddha: On the Practice of Interring Objects in Buddhist Statues

August 11–12, 2017 at Ewha Womans University

We are excited to present this symposium as part of the field visit for cluster 3.3 “Texts in Statues”.

Papers from this conference—along with a few newly commissioned essays—are published in a special issue of the Cahiers d’Extrême-Asie 28 (2019) dedicated to the Korean pokchang 腹藏 tradition of enshrining things inside of Buddhist statues.
