Li, Yier

Yier Li is a Master of Buddhist History at Fujian Normal University. Her research focuses on the administrators of the Buddhist monasteries in China from the ninth to the twelfth century, in particular to their name, social recognition, identity, and internal structure of the group. In this theme, she has devoted a lot of attention to the form of writing composed of Buddhism per se and secular society in structuring the monastic administrative staff (with the exclusion of the abbot), in order to analysis the technique used by Buddhist organisations in shaping management system. Moreover, she also studies the carving history of Chongning canon, the first individually-sponsored printed canon in China, and interprets the operations of social relations during the carving process.
