Announcement: Yin-Cheng Distinguished Lecture Series (印證佛學傑出學術系列講座)

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Yin-Cheng Distinguished Lecture Series (印證佛學傑出學術系列講座). On September 1, 2021, representatives from the Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation and members from seven international universities joined online to unveil a new collaborative, multi-university partnership between Columbia University, Harvard University, Peking University, Princeton University, University of British Columbia, University of Cambridge, and University of Oxford.

Established in honour of Venerable Cheng-yen 證嚴, the founder of Tzu Chi, and her mentor Venerable Yinshun 印順 (1906–2005), the lecture series aims to address topics in Buddhism and Contemporary Society, exploring how contemporary Buddhism can contribute to modern life beyond academics. Each one of the university partners will host an event featuring a presentation and discussions from distinguished scholars.

The inaugural lecture will be hosted on September 22 by University of Cambridge featuring Eugene Wang (Harvard University) as presenter, and Tang Hui (Central Academy of Fine Arts) and Francesca Tarocco (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice) as discussants. See full details of this event here.

Harvard University will host the next event in October, followed by UBC in December. Peking University and University of Oxford will host in January 2022, Princeton University in February 2022, and Columbia University in March 2022. Full details of these events will be released in due time.
