A heartfelt congratulation to Dr. Susan (Susie) Andrews, Mount Allison University associate professor of Religious Studies, who has been elected to the Royal Society of Canada’s (RSC) College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. The announcement was made by the RSC on September 6, 2022.
The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) comprises the Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences, and The College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. Since its founding in 1882, the organization recognizes outstanding achievements, advises the government and the larger society, and promotes a culture of knowledge and innovation with Canada and other national academies around the world.
Dr. Andrews is the recipient of multiple teaching honours including the Herbert and Leota Tucker Teaching Award in 2021 and a 2022 Paul Paré Award. She is recognized internationally for her research on storytelling and the formation of identity and empathy in diverse communities particularly in East Asian religions and landscapes. From onsite research to museum workshops, her community engagement in classes and research have enriched learning for wide audiences both locally and abroad. Among projects related to literacies and early childhood education, she has also initiated student fieldwork in Canada, the United States, China, and Japan.
