The Canadian Journal of Buddhist Studies is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada Conference Grants. Made possible through the generosity of the Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada, this grant will award PhD students or early career scholars in the field of Buddhist Studies up to $500 CAD for participation in online or in-person conferences. The grants are meant to cover conference costs such as registration, travel expenses, accommodation, and so forth.
Eligibility: Those currently registered in a full-time PhD program in Buddhist Studies at a Canadian institution, or who are within three years of having obtained a graduate degree in Buddhist Studies from a Canadian institution at the time of application, may apply.
This award cycle is meant to cover conference participation between September 1st, 2024 and August 31st, 2025. Applicants can therefore request funds to cover participation that has already occurred, or prospective participation anytime before August 31st, 2025.
Applicants are expected to be actively participating in the conference proceedings by presenting original research. Financial awards will be given as cheques delivered directly by the Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada only after the successful applicants have completed their participation. In order to receive the funds, applicants must have a mailing address and bank account in Canada or the U.S.A.

Results: Results will be announced in May 2025. Proof that one’s paper has been accepted for the conference will be required before funds are dispersed.
