Since the time immemorial, manuscripts have served as an important medium for recording culture. Like its printing counterpart, it plays a vital role in the transmission and development of the human culture. This symposium is aimed to promote the research on manuscripts, thereby gradually creating a new disciplinary sub-field, namely, Manuscript Studies; and to facilitate international collaboration and the building of academic disciplines in Peking University.
