How does the conversation between Buddhist and Cognitive Scientific perspectives stand?
Hosted by the Center for Culture, Society and Religion, the Department of Religion, and the Department of Psychology at Princeton University, the Agency and Experience workshop explores cross-fertilization between Buddhist (Abhidharma & Yogācāra) and Psychological perspectives on a variety of fronts. The workshop aims to engage cognitive science and Buddhist philosophy of mind in an interdisciplinary conversation around topics such as concepts & representations, values & goals, and social & developmental factors, exploring the roles of each in shaping experience and guiding purposeful behavior.
The program features a series of discussion sessions, culminating with a keynote by Prof. John Dunne (University of Wisconsin-Madison), who will deliver the Yin-Cheng Distinguished Lecture on Buddhism.
