Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada Annual Article Award

Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada Annual Article Award

The Canadian Journal of Buddhist Studies (CJBS) is pleased to announce a call for submissions for the second annual Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada Annual Article Award. Made possible through the generous support of the Buddhist Education Foundation of Canada, this award will offer $1000 CAD to up to two articles written by graduate students or early career scholars deemed as excellent, with priority given to those with connections to Canada. Submissions can be in any discipline of Buddhist Studies and will be evaluated by an Award Committee consisting of members of the CJBS Editorial Board and external experts. The successful articles will be featured in the subsequent edition of the CJBS, while outstanding submissions that do not receive awards will also be considered for publication.

Number and value of awards: Up to two awards per year, each valued at $1,000 CAD. Please note that the Awards Committee reserves the right to withhold the award if no qualified submissions are received.

Eligibility: Priority will be given to current graduate students and early career scholars. Those falling under the following categories are especially encouraged to apply: (a) those who are currently graduate students at Canadian universities, (b) those who have graduated from a Canadian university in the past three years, and/or (c) those who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. In order to receive the funds, participants must have a mailing address and a bank account in either Canada or the U.S.A.

Please note that articles submitted as part of CJBS special issues are not eligible for this award.

Submission Details: In order to apply, please submit your article submission of between 7,500 and 10,000 words (including footnotes and bibliography) to contact@thecjbs.org by April 15th, 2025.
