We are delighted to congratulate Vicky Baker, FROGBEAR Project Manager, who received a 2023 Sustainability Leadership Award on April 21, 2023 (Earth Day).
Created by the Sustainability Hub at the University British Columbia (UBC), the peer-nominated Sustainability Leadership Award recognises outstanding achievements of UBC community members in Vancouver who went above and beyond their own commitments to identify and address social and environmental challenges. These individuals lead the way by establishing innovative initiatives, and creating inclusive, equitable and supportive communities that respond to sustainability issues, reducing climate change, reversing biodiversity loss, transforming to circular economies.
Vicky Baker is one of the eight honoured recipients of this year’s award. She help founded the Interdepartmental Climate Committee (IDCC) that garners members across the UBC Vancouver campus, and served as a member for the Campus Synergy cohort with the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies to explore how UBC can meet the goal of becoming “Nature Positive University” by 2030. Within her own department, she leads the Sustainability Committee, which collaborate with two other departmental transformative initiatives: Anti-racism and Indigenous Asia. She also initiated the New Carbon Offsets & Sustainability Initiatives for the FROGBEAR project in September 2022.
