Pingyuan CHEN 陳平原 (Peking University 北京大學)

CHEN Pingyuan is a Research Fellow of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History, and was a First-Rank Professor in Philosophy and Social Sciences at Peking University, Chair Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has long been devoted to the study of twentieth-century Chinese literature, modern Chinese education and scholarship, and the history of Chinese fiction.

Since 1992, he has served as Professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University. He has conducted research or taught at numerous international institutions, including the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University in Japan; Columbia University and Harvard University in the United States; Heidelberg University in Germany; the University of London in the United Kingdom; the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) in France; The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and National Taiwan University.

He has published more than thirty books, including The Transformation of Narrative Modes in Chinese Fiction and A History of Chinese Prose Fiction, among others.

中央文史研究館館員、曾任北京大學哲學社會科學一級教授、兼任香港中文大學中國語言文學講座教授、長期致力於二十世紀中國文學、現代中國教育及學術、中國小說史等研究。

1992年起任北京大學中文系教授,先後在日本東京大學和京都大學、美國哥倫比亞大學、德國海德堡大學、英國倫敦大學、法國東方語言文化學院、美國哈佛大學以及香港中文大學、臺灣大學從事研究或教學。

先後出版《中國小說敘事模式的轉變》和《中國散文小說史》等著作三十餘部。


Xiaonan DENG 鄧小南 (Peking University 北京大學)

DENG Xiaonan is Boya Chair Professor Emerita at Peking University and a nationally recognized Distinguished Teaching Master of Higher Education in China. Her principal research fields include Song history, the history of bureaucratic institutions in imperial China, and the history of women in the Tang and Song periods. In particular, her work on Song dynasty history has opened new perspectives and methodological approaches in the field.

She has served as Dean of the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences at Peking University, Vice President of the Chinese Historical Society, and President of the Chinese Society for Song History Studies. She has lectured at leading international institutions including Harvard University, Yale University, the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in France, and the University of Tübingen in Germany.

Her major publications include The Ancestral Law: A Study of Early Northern Song Politics and Multiple Dimensions of the Civil Official Selection System in the Song Dynasty. She has published more than one hundred articles in academic journals in China and abroad. Her honors include the First Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Higher Education (Ministry of Education, China) and the Simian Award for Academic Originality, among others.

北京大學博雅榮休教授,國家級高等學校教學名師。主要研究方向為宋史、中國古代官僚制度史、唐宋婦女史等,尤其在宋史研究領域開啟了新的視野與研究取徑。

曾任北京大學人文社會科學研究院院長、中國歷史學會副會長、中國宋史研究會會長。曾在美國哈佛大學、耶魯大學,法國社會科學高等研究學院,德國圖賓根大學等海外學府講學。

著有《祖宗之法:北宋前期政治述略》《宋代文官選任制度諸層面》等,在國內外學術刊物發表論文百餘篇。獲得中國教育部高等學校科學研究優秀成果一等獎、思勉學術原創獎等多種獎項。


Qiang DONG 董强 (Peking University 北京大學)

DONG Qiang is a distinguished scholar and translator. He currently serves as Dean of Yenching Academy at Peking University, Boya Distinguished Professor of French in the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University, and doctoral supervisor. He is Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award and a lifetime corresponding member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Institut de France). His primary research areas include modern French literature and art, Sino–French cultural comparison, and translation studies. He graduated from the Department of Western Languages at Peking University in 1988, then pursued further studies in France, where he received a Doctorate in Literature from the University of Paris. He resided in France for twelve years and studied under Milan Kundera. He has published more than thirty scholarly and translated works, including Liang Zongdai — Traversing SymbolismThe Art of the NovelNadja, and The Logic of Sensation: Deleuze on Bacon, among others.

著名學者、翻譯家。現任北京大學燕京學堂院長,北京大學外國語學院法語系博雅特聘教授、博士生導師。傅雷翻譯出版獎組委會主席,法蘭西學院終身通訊院士。主要研究方向為法國現代文學、藝術;中法文化比較;翻譯學。1988年畢業於北京大學西語系,後赴法深造,獲巴黎大學文學博士學位,旅居法國十二年,曾師從米蘭·昆德拉。出版專著和譯著《梁宗岱——穿越象徵主義》《小說的藝術》《娜嘉》《感覺的邏輯——德勒茲論培根》等三十餘部。


Michael FRIEDRICH 傅敏怡 (University of Hamburg 德國漢堡大學)

Michael Friedrich is a leading German sinologist who has long taught at the University of Hamburg, holding administrative roles at the Asia–Africa Institute and directing international research projects. Trained in Sinology and related humanities in Germany, he combines rigorous philological expertise with engagement in contemporary theoretical approaches.

His research focuses on the textual culture and intellectual history of medieval China, with particular attention to manuscript production, transmission, knowledge classification, and the relationship between material texts and ideas. His work on Dunhuang manuscripts, leishu, and Buddhist texts emphasizes their historical contexts and proposes understanding traditional Chinese culture through “textual practice” and the “operation of knowledge.”

Methodologically, he promotes interdisciplinary research across history, religious studies, book history, and digital humanities, advancing studies of Chinese manuscripts and knowledge networks. He also fosters international collaboration between European and East Asian scholars and mentors emerging sinologists. His scholarship has deepened understanding of medieval Chinese knowledge systems and contributed to broader discussions on textuality, materiality, and knowledge construction.

傅敏怡教授為德國當代重要漢學家,現任德國漢堡大學亞洲—非洲研究學院教授,並曾擔任多項行政職務及主持國際研究計畫,在歐洲漢學界具有重要影響力。其學術訓練兼具傳統文獻學基礎與現代理論視野,方法嚴謹,研究涵蓋中國中古時期的文獻文化與知識史。

傅教授特別關注寫本文化、文本生成與流傳機制、知識分類體系,以及文本物質形態與思想建構的互動。他對敦煌文獻、類書及佛教文獻的研究,強調文本在具體歷史語境中的製作、傳抄與再編過程,提出從「文本實踐」與「知識運作」角度理解中國傳統文化的新方法。

在方法上,他倡導跨學科研究,結合歷史學、宗教學、書籍史與數位人文,推動古代寫本與知識網絡的系統性研究,並促進歐洲與東亞學界交流,培養新一代漢學家,其研究成果對理解中國中古知識世界及文本、物質與知識建構的討論具有重要啟發。


Imre GALAMBOS 高奕睿 (University of Cambridge 劍橋大學/Zhejiang University 浙江大學)

After having studied for several years in China (Tianjin) and Hungary, Imre Galambos received his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley with a dissertation on the orthography of Chinese writing during the Warring States period. Following his graduation, he started working for the International Dunhuang Project at the British Library and became involved in the study of Dunhuang manuscripts and the manuscript culture of medieval China in general. After 10 years at the British Library, he moved to Cambridge in 2012 and to Zhejiang University in 2023.

在中國天津和匈牙利進行了多年的學習與研究後,高奕睿在加州大學柏克萊分校獲得了博士學位,其博士論文為戰國時期中國文字正字法的相關研究。在博士畢業後,高奕睿入職大英圖書館,參與國際敦煌研究項目。由此開始敦煌手稿的研究以及中世紀中國的寫本文化研究。在大英圖書館工作十年後,他於2012年前往劍橋任教,並於2023年轉任浙江大學。


Imre HAMAR 郝清新 (Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary 匈牙利羅蘭大學)

Imre Hamar is a leading Hungarian sinologist and scholar of Chinese Buddhism, long based at Eötvös Loránd University, where he has held leadership roles including Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Director of the Confucius Institute and Provost. His research focuses on Huayan thought, Yogācāra (Consciousness-Only) traditions, and the interpretation of Chinese Buddhist scriptures, especially the Avataṃsaka Sūtra and its commentarial traditions. Through close textual analysis, he examines how Buddhist concepts were transformed in China and explores interactions between Sanskrit originals and Chinese translations. His work reconstructs Chinese Buddhist theoretical frameworks and illuminates the cross-cultural transmission of Buddhist thought.

Methodologically, Hamar balances philological rigor with philosophical interpretation, integrating linguistics, intellectual history, and religious studies. He actively promotes academic collaboration and cultural exchange between Hungary and China. His scholarship has advanced the study and internationalization of Chinese Buddhism in Central and Eastern Europe.

郝清新為匈牙利著名漢學家與佛教學者,長期任教於布達佩斯羅蘭大學,曾擔任人文學院院長、孔子學院院長、副校長等職,在中東歐漢學界具有重要影響力。其早年於匈牙利接受漢學與佛教學訓練,專攻中國佛教思想史與大乘經典研究,兼具語文功底與思想分析能力。

研究重點包括華嚴宗思想、唯識學傳統及漢譯佛典的詮釋,尤其關注《華嚴經》及其歷代註疏的哲學結構。他透過細讀與義理分析,探討佛教核心概念在中國語境中的轉化與再詮釋,並比較梵漢文本間的互動與差異,重建中國佛教哲學理論脈絡,深化對佛教思想跨文化傳播的理解。

方法上,他兼顧文獻學與哲學詮釋,結合語言學、思想史與宗教學視角,並積極推動匈牙利與中國的學術合作與交流,參與多項國際會議與研究計畫,為中東歐中國佛教研究的發展與國際化作出重要貢獻。


Barend TER HAAR 田海 (University of Hamburg 德國漢堡大學)

Barend ter Haar is a leading Dutch sinologist and historian of Chinese religion, who has taught at Heidelberg University, Leiden University, University of Oxford, and University of Hamburg. Trained in the Netherlands, he specializes in the religious and socio-cultural history of late imperial China, combining historical and anthropological approaches to study the formation and evolution of religious phenomena in specific social contexts.

His research focuses on popular religion, sectarian movements, and secret societies from the Ming and Qing periods, emphasizing the interplay of religious narratives, ritual practices, and local society. His major works reexamine categories such as “orthodoxy/heresy” and “religion/secret society,” highlighting the political and epistemological processes behind them.

Ter Haar emphasizes interpreting texts within their historical and social contexts, resisting reductive readings that view popular religion solely as ideology or political tool. Through detailed analyses of gazetteers, ritual texts, and narratives, he explores how religious language shapes community identity and social power. Actively engaged in international collaborations, his work has had a lasting influence on understanding the religious culture and social dynamics of late imperial China.

田海教授為當代重要的荷蘭漢學家與中國宗教史研究者,長期任教於海德堡大學、萊頓大學與牛津大學,在歐洲及國際漢學界享有盛譽。其專攻中國晚期帝制時代的宗教與社會文化史,善於結合歷史學與人類學方法,從具體社會脈絡探討宗教現象的形成與演變。

研究重點包括明清以來的民間宗教、教派運動與秘密結社,尤其關注宗教敘事、儀式實踐與地方社會的互動。其主要著作提供了細緻的歷史分析,並重新思考「正統/異端」、「宗教/秘密結社」等分類框架及其背後的政治與知識建構。

方法上,他強調文本必須置於歷史語境與社會實踐中理解,透過地方志、儀式文本與傳說敘事,揭示宗教語言如何形塑社群認同與權力關係。他亦積極推動國際合作,促進比較宗教與全球史視野下的中國宗教史研究,其成果對理解晚期帝制社會的宗教文化與社會動力具有深遠影響。


YANG Lihua 楊立華 (Peking University 北京大學)

YANG Lihua is Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Philosophy at Peking University, where he currently serves as Dean of the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences. His research focuses on the history of Chinese philosophy, Confucianism, Daoism, and religious Daoism. In recent years, he has concentrated particularly on Song–Ming philosophy and Wei–Jin thought.

He is the author of nine monographs: Between Sincerity of Thought and Singular Insight: Essays on Chinese PhilosophyA Study of Zhuangzi’s PhilosophyFifteen Lectures on Chinese PhilosophyThe One and the Generation of Life: An Outline of Monistic Principle TheoryFifteen Lectures on Song–Ming Neo-ConfucianismA History of Chinese ConfucianismA Study of Guo Xiang’s Commentary on the ZhuangziQi as Foundation and Spiritual Transformation: On Zhang Zai’s Philosophy; and Anonymous Assemblage: The Development of Daoist Longevity Techniques under the Concept of Inner Alchemy.

He has also translated or co-translated at least five major works, including three books by Rudolf G. Wagner—The Craft of a Chinese Commentator: Wang Bi on the LaoziA Chinese Reading of the Daodejing: Wang Bi’s Commentary on the Laozi with Critical Text and Translation; and Language, Ontology, and Political Philosophy in China: Wang Bi’s Scholarly Exploration of the Dark (Xuanxue)—as well as The Discourse of Race in Modern China by Frank Dikötter; an anthology of eighteen essays edited by Hoyt Cleveland Tillman; The Life and Thought of Chang Hsüeh-ch’eng (1738–1801) by David S. Nivison; and The Clash of Empires: The Invention of China in Modern World Making, edited by Lydia H. Liu.

現任北京大學哲學系教授、博士生導師,北京大學人文社會科學研究院院長。主要研究領域為中國哲學史、儒學、道家與道教,近年來尤著力於宋明哲學與魏晉哲學之研究。
