Sample Translations

Q: Do I need to translate the footnotes for the sample?

A: Yes, please translate the footnotes for the sample translation.

 

Q: Should I translate the Chinese version of a cited passage, or refer to the original works of the cited passage?

A: Please refer to the original works and provide English translations for any non-English sources (e.g., German, French). Your sample translation should include the original non-English passage along with your English translation.

 


Rates/Payments

Q: Is the payment for the entire team or for each individual translator?

A: Payments are made directly to each individual translator. Successful applicants will receive payment details outlined in the project contract.

 

Q: Is the pay rate negotiable?

A: The rate is not negotiable and is the same for all translators.

 


Logistics

Q: Is this a remote job?

A: This is a 100% remote position. Successful applicants are expect to participate regularly in Yun Yichang 雲譯場 meetings.

 

Q: May I translate more than one book per year?

A: Successful applicants may translate more one book per year depending on the quality and progress of their translation work, which will be regularly evaluated during the Yun Yichang meetings.
