這次考察旨在探討對“主要宗教傳統”和“真正的”作者的認定如何影響了“正統”和“真經“等觀念。在河南省濟瀆廟和王屋山的田野考察將為理解在中國由誰、何時及何地來定義權威和正統的宗教這一問題，提供一個獨特的詮釋機會。在濟瀆廟，我們將研究建築風格、國家祭祀河神的遺跡，以及當地的碑刻。在王屋山，研究小組將對道教儀軌、古代物質文化遺跡、碑刻以及當代道士在道觀的活動和修行進行研究調查。
